What it means

There was a problem. Your organization does not support this version of Windows. (0x80180014) The message points at the Windows build, which is almost never the problem. What it actually means is that Windows (MDM) enrolment is disallowed by a device type enrolment restriction in the Intune tenant — the platform is turned off for this user, so the service refuses the enrolment regardless of what the device is running.

Common causes

  1. The device type restriction that applies to this user has Windows (MDM) set to Block.

  2. A more specific enrolment restriction, assigned to a group the user belongs to, overrides the default and blocks the platform.

  3. The restriction allows Windows but blocks personally owned Windows devices, and this device isn't recognised as corporate.

How to fix it

  1. In the Microsoft Intune admin center, go to Devices > Enrollment restrictions, open the device type restriction that applies to the user, choose Properties > Edit next to Platform settings, and set Windows (MDM) to Allow. Select Review + Save.

  2. Check the restriction priority: a higher-priority restriction assigned to one of the user's groups wins over the default, so fixing the default alone may change nothing.

  3. If personally owned Windows devices are blocked deliberately, register the device as corporate first — by serial number, Autopilot, or a device enrolment manager account.
